Mr Shahram Kashani is a substantive consultant Eye Surgeon at Eastbourne District General Hospital and South East Eye Surgeons clinic at Polegate. His ophthalmology training was based around North Thames in London with the latter three years spent at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was subsequently selected and completed advanced sub speciality fellowship training in medical retina and uveitis. He performs high volume complex cataract surgery as well as premium lens implant. Since starting his role, he has been involved in setting up a dedicated intravitreal injection centre for AMD patients in East Sussex (Dowling unit Bexhill). He has also set up new services for diabetic macular oedema patients and those with retinal vein occlusion. He has been involved in training optometrists and nurse injectors in extended roles and is the educational supervisor to the ophthalmology trainees at Eastbourne as well as college tutor for ophthalmology trainees in East Sussex. He has been involved in setting up several training courses including leadership and management course at the RSM in London for trainees, GP's and consultants. He is married to Ellie and has 2 little girls, Ayla and Ava.
